چکیده

• A review of waste fats, oils and greases (FOGs) enzymatic hydrolysis is carried out. Waste FOGs potential industrial interest as oleochemical feedstock are described. Main challenges on the residual lipids explained. Developments lipase immobilization, combination, engineering revised. Intensification processes for The increasing global generation oils, resulting in a cascade economic, environmental, public health issues mismanagement common practice worldwide. Hence exploitation valorization required towards circular economy within industry. suitable further include used cooking trap greases, mill effluents, rendering spent earths from filtration bleaching, deodorization distillates, soapstocks, sewage sludges, among others. However main challenge harnessing their heterogeneity high content impurities, acidity, water. Alternatively, could be subjected to complete recover free fatty acids (FFAs), which widely feedstocks. Different catalysts have been explored this process, however, lipases particular because they able work low-quality feedstocks under milder operating conditions. This paper reviews most recent investigations FOGs, describing characteristics, conditions, challenges, current attempts improve enzymes performance, use combined chemical utilization, implementation intensified processing technologies. Potential future research possibilities process intensification field identified.

Evaluation of pre-treatment efficiency of fats, oils and greases using low frequency ultrasonic waves to accelerate the process of anaerobic digestion

Background and Objective: Hydrolysis of fat, oil and grease by ultrasonic waves is a pre-treatment method before anaerobic digestion which can change their physical, chemical and biological properties. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the efficiency of ultrasonic waves to improve the hydrolysis process and its use as an auxiliary substrate to increase the efficiency of anaerobi...

Autoxidation of Fats and Oils

Products that contain fats and oils turn rancid and deteriorate in other ways when they arc exposed to air. The action^ known as autoxidation, imparts disagreeable flavors and odors to fats and foods containing them. For a long time baffled investigators spent a vast amount of effort trying to find ways to prevent autoxidation. Specifically, the basic problem was the mechanism of autoxidation—h...

Polymorphism in Fats and Oils

Triacylglycerols (TAGs) are the major components of fats and oils and biologically important organic molecules along with proteins and carbohydrates. In industrial applications, TAGs are the main components in cream, margarine, and confectionery fats in foods and as matrix materials in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The physical behavior of TAGs influences the physical properties of fat-based p...
